| Barbara Burton and George Drought at Dubawnt Canyon on the Dubawnt River in Nunavut. |
Barbara and
George have been paddling and guiding together for many
years. Both are experienced white water paddlers and have
covered and photographed over 40 rivers in Canada and the
United States. In addition George is a professional
photographer and cinematographer with over 30 years
experience. Wilderness Bound Video Productions grew out of their Wilderness Bound guiding and tripping business created in 1986. Originally the business gave instruction in White Water Paddling and then progressed into guiding wilderness trips in Ontario and Quebec. By 1988 Wilderness Bound was guiding in the Great Smokey Mountains of the Carolinas in March and moving north to the Arctic Regions of Canada by July. Throughout this period Barbara and George photographed extensively, so much so, that by 1992 they decided that it was time to change to video. Since then they have videoed every river that they have paddled, trying to record them in their pristine state, before the advances of civilization spoil them for ever. These videos give the viewer an excellent idea of conditions on the rivers. They also show the range of scenery in superb imagery and display a wide range of flowers and vegetation. Wildlife can often be difficult to film on canoe trips because of its natural elusiveness and shyness but in spite of that every effort has been made to document its activity on the trip without resorting to (or cribbing from) stock footage. These videos will also show and/or talk about the degree of difficulty that can be encountered when paddling rivers. It should be remembered that extreme caution should be taken when paddling all rivers, as conditions, temperatures and water levels can change daily, making paddling much more dangerous than shown. The footage has all been shot using the best light weight equipment in the world with a variety of lenses. All from Canon.
